My most vivid high school memory:
The day we went to the Auditorium to see a space shuttle launch. This launch was special because it had the first teacher onboard. While most students were watching the TV and some students just relieved to be out of class, the countdown hit zero. The engines fired. The shuttle took off. Many of us started cheering. Then it happened. The screen flashed. Two rockets were just zig-zagging about each other. No one knew what happened. Then, the realization that we just witnessed the shuttle exploding rippled through the room. School officials didn't know what to do. What could they do? They turned off the TV, and told us all to calm down and go back to our classrooms. To this day, I remember that walk back to class. .
